How are hours tracked?

When you are going through each page, the time is recorded when you move forward to the next page, or when you log out by clicking on the exit tutorial button on the left side of the page.

If you stay on a page too long, the page will time out and the time on that page will not be recorded.  If you exit incorrectly, the time on the current page will not be recorded. A student must be actively going through the tutorials (i.e. from page to page) to have the time recorded.  Sitting on a page for 1 hour is not considered to be actively utilizing the tutorial.

When designing EDGT, we had to take into account different situations and consulted with instructors who wanted to make sure their students were actively using the tutorials.  We did take into account that some students read faster than others, so gave adequate time for students who required additional time.  Most of tutorials can be completed (all the pages of all the modules) in 3 to 6 hours, depending upon the length and complexity of the tutorial.

If a student forgot to exit the tutorial and were idle on a page for 2 hours. That time away from the computer will not be recorded.
